About Alex Wood

Alex is a conservatoire trained multi-instrumentalist, principally as a classical trombonist at the RCM but he also plays strings, guitar and gamelan. He has played in a number of string quartets and function bands for a wide range of venues and events. He has also performed as a soloist, orchestral musician and pit musician. As a recording and mix engineer over the last 20 years he has worked with a wide range of musicians from heavy metal bands to solo singers, jazz ensembles to drum & bass. He also records both orchestral, musical theatre and ensemble music on-location. He has moonlighted on occasion running sound for live music and theatre events.

He composes sonic art works for performance on sound diffusion systems or for installation involving ‘pluderphonic’ practice and audio manipulation. His works have been performed by B.E.A.S.T, RCM, Spitalfields Festival, Sonic Futures, and The Crossover Project (both at Her Majesty’s Theatre and the London Palladium). His work generally uses site-specific source material or features interactivity and community involvement. He can be found making bleepy noise on synthesisers and generally geeking out over analogue recording equipment having a particular love for vintage mixing desks and compressors.

Once you've registered you will be sent a link to the webinar via email a few days before the event.
