Music production is both a creative and technical process. Creatively, producing music is a space where you can find your focus and give your life real meaning, whether working solo or through collaboration. Technically, it involves using a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) such as Logic or Ableton; programming beats and virtual instruments; using multiple plug-ins and effects like reverb and delay; incorporating vocals and live elements into the track and editing them; mixing the track so it is balanced and clear; and finally mastering it so it is loud and can compete with other commercial releases. The demand for great music has never been stronger and skilled entrepreneurial music producers have many opportunities to have successful careers.
At pointblank, you can find your network and prepare to take on the world. In addition to traditional roles within the music industry, such as being an artist or in a band, working as a sound engineer or music producer, there are other pathways in areas such as gaming, sound design and composition for film, television and virtual reality experiences, podcasting and more. We’ve been teaching the art of sound and audio for over 30 years and we're proud to be a leader in the industry. We have been awarded TEF Gold for Teaching Excellence by the Office for Students, one of only a select few music institutions to achieve this.
